they rocked - honest
i'd only seen mechanical caberet once before. it was a two-song set at gotham4. they'd gone on at the last minute in a flurry of cancelations and "technical problems". i remember them sucking badly, but looking back, i don't think it was really their fault. they were a lot more interesting second time around. in fact, i'd go as far as to say they were alright.

greenhaus weren't quite
what i'd expected. then again i only had the name and their logo to go on - i was expecting something more etherial.
they reminded me a lot of the cure. think cure remixes and you're pretty much there. lots of bleepy noises and hypnotic zappy-bangy stuff. very interesting to listen to and they had a sort of picture show in the background - vedy nice |

i got to talk to
Tthe singer of mechanical caberet. i just said "nice gig" which i think was more out of amazement than anything. i think gotham left me with a very bitter image of them that they managed to get rid of well in sheff.
ended up talking about the cure, so no surprises there. |
they say you should never
judge a book by it's cover. and sputnik kind of conferm that. tony james's wig is... well. awfull. i'd like to jump on it. from now on i will blame all that is bad and wrong in this world on it.
ok, maybe it wasn't that bad...
they looked a bit rough. well, tony and neil did. they girl at the back looked like she could be the daughter of one of the original members.
they sounded fantastic though. and putting slave trade next to love missile F1-11 in the setlist just made them raaaaaaaawk more. |
